Bio: Hi my name is Keri.Though, everything that I write about actually happened, in the 1970s I am sharing it with you chronologically, as I recall it today. ************** As I begin this blog, I am in High School and my English teacher, Mrs. Walker has given me this assignment to write in my journal everyday. Which is pretty easy for me because... I want to be a writer! And well, that is kind of how I got into her class. Last year she put me in her Independent Study group after reading a lot of my poems. I had to pass her class the first year with an A and last year... all I had to do was write poems. It was pretty great. She taught me about timing and cadence and I got to study different styles. **************** This year she has decided to give me a different assignment and it's this journal thing. The other day, she told me that "Our lives are like books, everyday we write a page." She's told me that she has filled a lot of books in her life but that mine still has many chapters left. For now I am writing by recalling the author's memories as she uses me to tell it to you. Though I may just be a character in her book. ************ The actual author of this blog is writing a book about her memories of being in an abusive relationship that started in her teens. Another author friend suggested that she write in the first person from Keri's point of view and so please understand that all correspondence will be read and answered by Keri from her semi-fictional point of view! Thank you for reading!

      • I will email you later, that way everyone doesn’t have to see our conversations πŸ™‚ I have to run out today for doctor stuff, I did leave you a note on Keri’s page for now,

      • Deb,
I bet you think that I am not going to finish this! And when I say that I am on another roll, you probably just roll your eyes. LOL. But I’ll make you proud someday!

  1. OK. I’m following. That means you are leading. So when aliens land in my back yard and say, “Take me to your leader.” you better be able to handle it. One of my friends here seems to have had a teacher just like yours many moons ago. This should be interesting.

  2. Hello Keri,
Thanks for your visit to my page. Sounds like you’ve had some interesting assignments. One comment on journals, In my humble opinion, sometimes one line can sum up a whole day, other days may take pages. My blog is a journal, of sorts, for me. It reflects a small piece of my thoughts for that day, important or not. I will be visiting your site to view your efforts soon.

  3. Hi Keris-

I wish that I was just starting out. Your teacher is right about you having many chapters in your life. So you want to be a writer? There’s a lot of writing advice out there on the web. Go on those blogs and learn the craft of writing. But most importantly, practice everyday so that you’ll find your voice. That’s my advice to you today.
    Thanks for following my blog.

  4. She’s right you know… There are so many times I wish I had written down things that happened, the funny and the sad, but I wasn’t consistent. Thank you for stopping by to check out my blog. I truly appreciate it! πŸ˜€

    • Keli,
Thank you for reading here. I have always loved your writing! You can still write down all your memories! It might be a great project. Go backwards and be Keli at 17 and just start writing as you remember!
Sorry that I am coming back to comment so late after you commented here. I am just now finding all my comments! They are like presents that I am unwrapping! Thank you so much!
      k πŸ˜‰

      • No worries about the time…. πŸ˜€ I have been so busy moving my mother’s possessions out of her house of 41 years, that I’ve been too exhausted to even get back on. Hopefully now that the moving is over, I’ll have more time. πŸ˜€

  5. This is a wonderful way to begin your writing career. You are fortunate to know what you would like to do at an early age and you have many fruitful years to look forward to. Thanks for the visit and I will be happy to follow your writing. Good luck!

    • Thank you so much for taking the time to come and read my words! It means so much! I have decided not to follow a lot of other blogs here but the ones I do follow are for the very reason that they are worth my time! And yours is wonderful! I am honored that you decided to follow mine!

  6. Hi Keri! Thank you for visiting my blog. It’s a wonderful thing, knowing what you want to do in life, and blogging will be a good way for you to practice and hone your craft. πŸ™‚

  7. Thanks for following Benzeknees! I wish you great success with your blogging/journaling. Since I am studying Climate Change online at Exeter University in England – you might actually learn a thing or two while you’re visiting me.

  8. Keri, I’ve never corresponded with a character in a developing novel before. I wish you were not headed for an abusive relationship, but I trust you emerge from it stronger and wiser. Thanks for following friendlyfairytales, I look forward to hearing more about your story. Cheers, Brenda

    • Brenda,
I know it is kind of strange. It was an experiment an author friend suggested so I thought what the heck. If nothing else, it is good therapy! I love your blog though! I will have to visit you from my other blog so it’s not so weird. LOL. But I’ve written about 20 chapters in second person and I thought this might be helpful to help develop things as I go back and edit!

      • K, I think it could really work out, I didn’t mean to rain on your parade. I look forward to seeing how it turns out. As my kids get older, I hope to write more and more, and I have a few novels in the back of my mind I need to bring out. Perhaps I will learn how from you.

        Blessings. Brenda

    • Hi Ann,
I saw your comment on another one of my posts but I can’t find it now. Hope you read my ABOUT page and understand the idea of this blog now… by the way there are pjs on under the sheets… i think it may have been you that mentioned something about that. lol.
      Thanks for your time. πŸ™‚

  9. I thank you for the “Like” on one of my posts. I enjoy the feel of your writing and the cadence of it all so I’m now a follower and looking forward to reading more of your stuff. It seems by the comments above that you have some good backup so I hope the book deal works out. While I have no interest in writing a book we do have one thing in common because like yourself my posts are about things from my life. If you stop by again your comments and critique are invited and welcome.
    My best

    • Hi Bob,
Thank you so much for following! I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond. For some reason, I didn’t find these comments until now. But I am glad I found them! I love your writing and the best kind of writing that catches me heart is the kind where you write about your life! Can’t wait to read more!

  10. hello & thank you for visiting my blog
    what a brave undertaking
to unravel ones own story little by little
a bow to your dedication & reflection
& the courage to share it
    wishing you all good things

    • Marneymae
Thank you so much for reading and taking time to comment!
I am afraid I am unraveling slower than I was hoping! It is a bigger undertaking than I imagined. But I soooo appreciate your support! I look forward to reading more of your posts!

      • all things take the time that they take.
a life is complex & to unravel the complex threads of a life takes great care & time & attention.
        i know you know this
        wishing you all good things

    • Thank you so much. You know, it is so fun to come back and find old comments that I missed. Your words are like unwrapped gifts. Thank you so much. I don’t follow unless I am touched by someone’s writing so I am honored that someone with talent such as yours has given me such a nice compliment!
      Thank you!

    • Thank you!!!! I would love to know your techniques! But I do appreciate your question about timing. That is a good question. I am pretty sure that I am only going to tell the story through journaling for a specific time period. Since the whole story kind of centers around Keri as a middle aged woman who finds the journals. But I’d love to hear your thoughts!!!

    • You asked about the truth or reality of the posts in the last post I posted. And my answer is here. I am writing this as a fictional character “keri” most everything happened as it is written though it is presented as fiction to protect the ones involved!
Just wanted to come back here and see if you’d stopped by here to understand what I was attempting to do.

  11. Hi Di…I have nominated this site for a Liebster Award! I know how busy you are…if you can’t accept I understand…I wanted you to know you were my choice…and I think more people should read your story! You can go to lorriebowden.com or to post:

    • Lorrie,
I am so touched! Not sure how to accept in this format but I will have to figure it out! You are my first awarde giver here and I am honored!
      di ya know!

  12. I like your perspective–the ’70’s–that was a wild/turbulent decade for many people. . Looking forward to getting to know you as you write the book of your life.

    • Thank you so much for taking the time to come and find out what I am about! Yes you are right about the seventies! I appreciate your time and never take it for granted. I pray that my story will have a redeeming message as it unravels. Thank you again for reading!

  13. Hi Keri, I have nominated you for a Liebster bloggers’ award. If you would like to accept the Liebster and participate in the sharing of this benevolent chain award we bloggers pass to each other with rampant Snoopy dancing and good conversation, please see the post on my website at the link below for more information. I have a link back to your blog on my blog; to show my appreciation for your touching story about the journey of a young woman through her journal entries, and to help others find your website as well. If you prefer not to participate, you don’t need to do anything, and if you prefer that I not link back to your page, just let me know and I will remove it. Otherwise, I appreciate what you do here and wish you the best.

    Kindest Regards, Daniel (Willy Nilly)

    • Hi.
I will let you in on a little secret, this all happened to me in the 1970s. I just changed the names to protect those who would not want me to use their names. πŸ˜‰
So to answer your question, the story is true but the name were changed. I’m writing this journal as a section of my book. You can find the rough drafts of that on my original blog:
and then search for: chapter one.
Thank YOU Reading Girl for reading!!

  14. Hi Keri. Thank you for the visit to my site, but I believe you may find some benefit by visiting another of my readers website. Her name is Angel, and she is also a victim of abuse in past times.

She has now dedicated her life to helping victims of all kinds of abuse through relating the comfort of the Lord’s love and comfort to others. She is a very understanding soul and has a book or two published about abuse.

You can visit her at “secretangelps911.wordpress.com.” Hope this will be of interest to you!

    Steve Pejay

      • Hi, Keris…(hope I have your name correctly!)…

I just emailed Angel this morning and she is very committed to helping with abuse victims and broken spirits! She has had a very bad experience herself in life, so she knows the kind of pain and suffering involved better than most.

It would be my pleasure to have you stay in touch here, and comment on what you read…

        Enjoy your day,
        Steve πŸ™‚

      • Steve,
Thank you! I will. Did you read my ABOUT page? I just want to make sure that you are clear about my project as well.
        Thank you for your heart!
By the way, I did go on her blog and I am following her from my other blog so we have crossed paths but I left a message under my coastalmom name.

  15. Steve,
Thank you! I will. Did you read my ABOUT page? I just want to make sure that you are clear about my project as well.
    Thank you for your heart!
By the way, I did go on her blog and I am following her from my other blog so we have crossed paths but I left a message under my coastalmom name.

  16. Thank you for finding me and following my blog. It is interesting because I started my first journal ( diary) when I was about 15 years old and it was in the 1970s. I am a bit confused after reading your about page, but do wish you success with your project.

    in lite,

    • I am just now finding some comments that were lost between the cracks. I have a few people who have been reading right through every entry and am blown away by their support! But did want to take the time to reply. That is interesting that you can relate a little in your journal writing.
I know that this is a little confusing but in my other blog I was writing my book and an author friend suggested that instead of writing everything in the second person, that since my journals are a focus, to write them in the first person. So that is what I was doing and she also suggested that host this as the fifteen year old girl that started the journals. But I felt that even though I’ve introduced this all as ficitonal, it all happened… to me. But I couldn’t keep it as written from Keri without explaining. πŸ˜‰

    • I am so sorry, I have been working on the ending to this book and I am just getting to try to devote some time to those who have taken the time to support me. You are true inspirers!
      Thank you.

  17. Such A fabulous blog !
I just loved reading it !! I have to say that it’s inspiring me in many aspects, I have to admit that I love the way you see the stuffs in a different way from the others please continue!!

    • Hi Gail,
I am good. Sorry about the delay in responding, I am just now wandering back over from my other blog. I feel that this is a subject that needs to be discussed more so others don’t feel so alone! Thank you for your blog!

    • I just visited your site and am in love with your writing as well! I have another site… http://dianereedwiter.wordpress.com
so if you see coastalmom liking your stuff that is me too! lol.
I started this site due to the suggestion of an author friend of mine when I started writing my story. She suggested that I write it in journal form and share it. So I changed everything I’d written to first person and kerisjournal was born!
Your word inspire me to get back and finish what I started!!!!
      Thank you sooo much!!!!
